CTI Work Experience

Course Objective:
To provide the student the opportunity to gain knowledge and training above and beyond skills taught in the student’s Career Technology program of study, as well as increase the prospects for future employment, and provide career exploration for post-secondary education.

Grading Scale: Fulton County Grading Policy
Employer Job Evaluations 50% A = 90-100
Attendance 30% B = 80-89
Work schedules/pay stub/ 20% C = 70-79
WBL Assignments F = 69-0

Course Requirements:
- The student must work a minimum of 15 hours weekly for 2 periods of CTI WBL.
- You MUST sign-out at the Attendance office each day before leaving school for work.
- If absent, you must contact Ms. Crockett’s office at 770 521-7600, ext.182
by 9:00am. Two unexcused absences and/or failure to call the CTI office will result in an attendance grade of “65”(F) for each day. After the 3rd failure to contact the CTI Office when absent, you will receive a “0” attendance grade for each absence.
- Your work schedule (100 pts. each) with dates, hours worked, and daily work tasks must be turned in to Ms. Crockett’s office “Work Schedule” folder every Tuesday by the end of the day. The folder is located on the CTI office door. Blank work schedules will also be available in this folder.
- A copy of your pay stub/check is due the next school day after payment from your employer.
- Assignments are due upon date assigned.
- Your employer will provide at least one job evaluation every 6 weeks (see Job Evaluation rating form). Unsatisfactory job evaluations may require additional evaluations and/or reporting to improve work performance.

Unemployed students will work in an unpaid position assigned by the CTI Specialist (custodial assistant, etc.) at CHS until re-employed. The student must report daily to his/her assigned school position at the designated time unless the CTI Specialist grants permission to be absent for a job interview. The student is required to submit the manager’s name, phone number, business address, and time of interview when requesting permission to be excused.

Please remember that you have been given the privilege to participate in the CTI Work-based Learning program. Excessive absences, poor work performance, and/or failure to complete course requirements may result in re-scheduling to regular class or a grade of “F” for the course. This may impact your graduation status for the Career Technology diploma.
